Firestreamer-RM Getting Started Guide Firestreamer-RM Home

Remote Media Drives

Firestreamer-RM automatically recognizes remote media drives connected to your computer via the iSCSI protocol. This allows you to perform a backup and restore to and from a remote location.

To connect a remote iSCSI media drive to your computer, follow the steps below.

  1. On your local computer, install the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator.
  2. Configure Microsoft iSCSI Initiator to connect to the remote media drive.
  3. Perform a test backup and restore.

You can also use Firestreamer-RM with a remote media drive of virtually any type, not necessarily a SCSI one, by following the steps below.

  1. Install third party iSCSI target software on the remote computer with a media drive.
  2. Configure the iSCSI target software to expose the media drive as an iSCSI target.
  3. On your local computer, install Microsoft iSCSI Initiator.
  4. Configure Microsoft iSCSI Initiator to connect to the remote media drive.
  5. Perform a test backup and restore.
