How do you license Firestreamer?
You can download a fully functional version of Firestreamer for a free 30-day trial. To use Firestreamer beyond the trial period, you need to purchase a license for each physical or virtual computer that will have Firestreamer installed. The license covers all the current and future versions of Firestreamer.

What is the upgrade cost?
You can upgrade to the next version of Firestreamer free of charge. This includes upgrading from version 3.x (the stand-alone tape drive) to 4.x (the media changer). Your current license key will fit the most recent version of Firestreamer.

Do I need a license key to restore my data?
You only need a license key to perform backups beyond the 30 day trial period. You can restore your data without any limitation, even if you do not have a license key.

Is my media drive compatible with Firestreamer?
Firestreamer supports all media drives with a Designed for Windows logo, as well as most of the others. Should you have any problems or questions, do not hesitate to contact us. If Firestreamer is not working with your media drive, we may be able to update the software so that it will work for you.

What media does Firestreamer support?
Why do you not support DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW?
The CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW media formats have certain inherent limitations that make them unsuitable for virtual tape.

Does Firestreamer support virtual environment?
Firestreamer should work fine in a virtual environment, provided that it has access to the media drives. Some virtualization products may not support, for example, USB devices or DVD writers. To overcome this limitation, you may want to consider using file media instead of drive media.

Does Firestreamer support Microsoft Backup (NTBackup)?
Firestreamer does not support Microsoft Backup, but we have another great product called Firestreamer-RM, which is designed specifically for Microsoft Backup.

What is the difference between Firestreamer and Firestreamer-RM?
Firestreamer (versions 3.x or newer) is intended for use with enterprise backup solutions like Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager. Firestreamer-RM (versions 2.x) is for Microsoft Backup (NTBackup).
