Cannot backup VMs on external HDD

I've tried to run backups for all 8 of my production VMs running on Hyper-V cluster shared volumes, but the Protection Group bombs about 30min to an hour into the process. If I changed this protection group to backup to my LTO4 tape drive it works fine. What I've noticed is that when I have it set to backup to the external HDD (setup as file devices), it appears to backup to two Firestreamer drives at the same time. Would that cause it to crash? If so, how can I limit the number of Firestreamer drives used at once?

DPM should work fine with multiple tape drives. You need to contact Microsoft Support. We cannot help you, sorry. Check for DPM hotfixes on microsoft.com.

John,
If I want to only allow using one drive for my external HDD how can I do that?

You need to reconfigure the library for it to have a single drive, see http://www.cristalink.com/fs/hh.aspx?id=lcfg
