Firestreamer is a virtual tape library. It provides virtual tapes to DPM. It can do nothing beyond that. I guess you need to use eSATA instead of USB for DPM to recognize external disks as local ones.

Firestreamer can work alongside with physical tape libraries. DPM will see both physical and virtual tape libraries.

Thanks for the reply.

I can see the USB drive when i click Add drives to media . I have loaded that. But in DPM i could not see the disks when click Add.

This is what you mentioned in your reply that Filestream cannot do beyond that.

You can use external disks with Firestreamer as storage for virtual tapes. Microsoft DPM will see these disks as tapes only.

Firestreamer will NOT make an external disk to appear as "disk" to Microsoft DPM.
