Using DPM 2012 on Server 2012 and the tape backup has been working flawlessly. Installed an additional external hard drive this week and configured per your instruction with no problem. Ran a tape backup last night and it failed with the following error 'Tape Library Firestreamer Media Changer could not be contacted. All jobs for Tape Library Firestreamer Media Changer will fail if the connection is not established. (ID 3301)' I ran an detailed inventory on the library and it ran with no errors. I checked the device manager and all drivers appear to be normal. I also unmounted and remounted the first external hard drive and it failed with the same error. The server has been rebooted several times and the external hard drives powered on and off. Everything worked perfectly last week. What can I try next?

How big is your backup? Is there anything written to tapes? What does the Activity log of the Firestreamer Snap-In say? What happens if you manually create a recovery point?

I fixed the problem. I had the wrong library selected in Protection.
Thank you.
