Re: Migrate/Move Library to NAS
Option A. Update the media layout to remove all old tapes and to include new NAS tapes, and perform a full backup. Once you decide that the old RAID tapes are not needed, you can delete them. Option B. Move all your tapes from RAID to NAS, and update the media layout respectively. Option C. Add NAS ...

Re: DPM 2010 tape backups failing
Firestreamer does not delete files. In theory, the file could disappear if QNAP say rebooted when the file was being written, the underlying disk structure of the file became corrupted, and the QNAP file system deleted the file during the start-up check. There might be logs on QNAP which could tell ...

Re: DPM Jobs Fail - ID 24052
Are there any errors or warnings in the Activity view of Firestreamer Snap-In? Note that the messages remain there until the machine is rebooted. You can find old errors and warnings in Windows Application Event Log, but it'd probably be easier to replicate the problem and check the Activity view. ...

Re: LTO4 Tape drive under Firestreamer?
I am surprised and delighted to hear that the Firestreamer compression beats the hardware compression of a physical LTO4 tape drive. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use Firestreamer to enhance compression for a physical tape drive. For that you would need a "filter driver" sitting bet...

Are you sure you use DVD+ (plus), not DVD- (minus)? If yes, please create a diagnostic log file (without imgburn) and email it to us.

Re: Library offline and no free tapes
When you change the number of libraries, the serial numbers of libraries change, meaning that DPM will no longer see old libraries, only new ones. See Advanced Configuration for more info.
You need to reconfigure your protection groups to use new libraries, and add tape to the additional library.

Re: Firestreamer Automation: Sample Script
Below is one of many ways to implement what you are trying to achieve. Scenario: You have only one virtual tape library configured. Normally, all backups go to the local RAID array. It means that the tape library normally contains only the tapes located on the RAID array. Once a month, you connect a...

Re: Licensing - Transferrable?
According to EULA and https://www.cristalink.com/fs/purchase.aspx , "Firestreamer is licensed on a per-computer (per-installation) basis. You need a single license for each computer, whether physical or virtual, that will have the software installed". If you plan to install Firestreamer on...
