Re: Support for ReFS

Firestreamer supports ReFS, as well as any other file system accessible from a kernel mode driver. Firestreamer uses the standard file API, so the type of the underlying file system doesn't matter from that standpoint.

Re: TSM

Firestreamer implements a set of generic SCSI commands mandatory for tape drives and medium changers. It also comes with "minitape" and "minichanger" drivers which integrate Firestreamer with Windows' standard tape class driver. Firestreamer does not emulate any specific hardware...

Re: TSM

I am sorry to say that we haven't tested Firestreamer with TSM and cannot guarantee the compatibility. If you want to try Firestreamer with TSM, install both and follow the TSM documentation to see if TSM recognises Firestreamer as a tape library. If it does, load tape into Firestreamer and try to p...

Moving tapes offsite

Normally, you move a tape offsite when your backup software indicates the tape is ready for offsite. However, nothing prevents you from moving a tape offsite even if it is not marked as ”ready”. It is the same as if you pressed the eject button on a physical tape library, took the ejected tape a...

Re: file recovery from FSRM

Firestreamer does not back up or restore, backup software does. Each FSRM file is a virtual tape. I guess that your FSRM files were created with Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM). it may not be the case though. If it's DPM, then the easiest way is to load all tapes into Firestreamer (via the F...

Re: Filestreamer fails to install

Firestreamer 4.0.0 fully supports Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2. The installation should not be affected by the presence or absence of Microsoft DPM because Firestreamer is not aware of DPM and does not interfere with it in any way. In any event, Firestreamer fully supports Microsoft DPM...

Re: Filestreamer fails to install

How long did you wait for the installation to complete? Could you create folder c:\temp\ , copy the Firestreamer installer there and run the following command from an administrative command prompt: msiexec /lvx* c:\temp\log.txt /i c:\temp\Firestreamer-x64.msi Could you then email resulting c:\temp\l...

Re: Errormessages in Firestreamer console

I assume that "\\servername" is a share on PowerVault MD3260. If so, then I don't think that the version of Windows on your DPM server or the type of its filesystem matter. What do matter are the operating system and the file system on PowerVault MD3260 (unless PowerVault drives appear as ...
