Re: Recommended FSRM-size in our case and in general?
The customers with a fewer number of virtual tapes, especially those using drive media (as opposed to file media), may need the co-location enabled. When the serial number of a Firestreamer tape library changes, you need to update the settings of all protection groups that use the library. It's a ma...

Re: Data Compression - Firestreamer vs. LTO-drives
Firestreamer uses the NTFS compression that is built into Windows. In our observation, uncompressible data causes a higher CPU usage. A faster CPU will reduce the time needed to compress data. The amount of system memory has no effect on the compression. Multiple CPUs will improve the performance of...

Re: Recommended FSRM-size in our case and in general?
The MBR requirement doesn't apply to file media - please see my reply to your other post. 1) The disc space is not wasted. The size of an uncompressed .fsrm file matches the size of the actual data plus small overhead. 2) It's entirely up to you to enable or disable the co-location. There's no "...

Re: Requirements/limitations in disklayout for Firestreamer?
These requirements apply to drive media (one tape per disk) only. They do not apply to file media (.fsrm files, multiple tapes per disk). A 10TB GPT disk is fine for file media. For more details, please see File Media.

Re: Future releases - can we be depending on Firestreamer?
In this case, a year-old release indicates the high quality of the product which doesn't require frequent updates. We are working on the next version nonetheless. For the express warranties, please see END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR FIRESTREAMER . We cannot provide any warranties in relation to thir...

Re: Data Compression - Firestreamer vs. LTO-drives
Please see What is the data compression ratio of Firestreamer?
In short, it very depends on the actual data. In the demo video the compression ratio reaches 28:1 for the DPM's own database.

Re: Unable to open the medium - Device not ready
We investigated the issue while working on the next version of Firestreamer, and it seems that the problem is because you are using drive letters. Firestreamer opens file media in the security context of the Firestreamer Helper Service, and the drive mappings there are likely to differ from your cur...

Re: ASR.SIF file command reference...??
We don't have any documentation on ASR.SIF. We used a trial and error approach to find out the meaning on some of its sections. What we found is in Firestreamer-RM's code, not in a text document, and is unlikely to help you anyway. I am sorry we cannot be more helpful.

Re: load/span all the media at one time?
When I load the media from filestreamer, it looks like it replaces the 150 media. In the Media Layout Editor, click Media , then Create and Add File Media or Add Existing File Media to add the first 150 tapes. Repeat to add next 150 tapes, and so on. Click Load Media when done. I think by loading a...
