Like with physical tapes, you will need to import and recatalog the tapes with the new DPM serve...

Re: load/span all the media at one time?

Yes, you can load media into Firestreamer from different physical storage devices at the same time. The spanning is done by DPM, and for the latter all Firestreamer tapes look the same regardless of the actual physical location.

Once it decides to proceed, the existing partition table will be overwritten (deleted). The size of the partition doesn't matter. Firestrea...

Re: Unable to open medium

Do not use drive letters in media names because an external HDD may have a different drive letter or no letter at all assigned to it in the security context of the Firestreamer Helper Service. Instead, use the volume names which are guaranteed to point to the same disk regardless of the current acco...

Re: Tape questions

It's the backup software that should display the tape usage data, not a tape drive. Normally, you don't need to monitor tapes with Microsoft DPM. It s...

Re: The tape is write protected

You need to check the Activity view of Firestreamer Snap-In for warning or error messages. See also W004: The medium is write protected.

Re: Automation

According to Automation , before using the Firestreamer interface, you need to register it first with the following command line: For a 32-bit operating system: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\RegAsm.exe /codebase "C:\Program Files\Cristalink\FsChanger\FirestreamerInterface.dll&qu...

Re: DPM 2010 + Firestreamer + Data Domain

Their "tape markers" most likely refer to proprietary formats used by various vendors for virtual tape. Firestreamer is from a vendor that Data Domain doesn't seem to support yet. We will try to contact them next week. I will post any updates here.
