Firestreamer 4.0 Release Candidate

Last modified on June 15, 2009

Firestreamer 4.0 is the latest, completely redesigned version of the software. Being a tape library as opposed to a stand-alone tape drive, the new version greatly simplifies management of backup media. For more information, please refer to the included help file.

Release Notes

Version 3.95.9 (4.0 Release Candidate) - June 15, 2009

Version 3.95.8 Beta - April 2, 2009

  • FIXED: When a Microsoft DPM backup operation reaches the end of tape, the operation fails instead of continuing to the next tape.
  • FIXED: Firestreamer snap-in can be used only under an administrative account.
  • FIXED: Firestreamer will not install on a computer which is not a member of a domain.
  • KNOWN ISSUE: The Add Drive Media menu item in the Media Layout Editor is disabled.

Version 3.95.7 Beta - March 9, 2009

  • ADDED: The Current State scope node for the Firestreamer snap-in, which displays the actual state of the Firestreamer Media Changer, as opposed to the initial media layout displayed by the Media scope node.
  • ADDED: Automatic generation of bar codes.
  • ADDED: The bar code prefix setting in the Properties dialog of the Firestreamer scope node.
  • CHANGED: It is no longer recommended to explicitly specify media bar codes. Instead, for File Media, the bar code is automatically extracted from the medium file name. For other types of media, the bar code is automatically generated and can be viewed in the medium's README.HTM file.
  • KNOWN ISSUE: When a DPM backup operation reaches the end of tape, the operation fails instead of continuing to the next tape. We are working with Microsoft to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, please make sure that the tapes in the changer have sufficient free space for a whole backup.

  • KNOWN ISSUE: The help file is not up to date.
  • KNOWN ISSUE: Firestreamer will not install on a computer which is not a member of a domain.
