Firestreamer Media Changer (Beta) - Installation

Overview
IMPORTANT:
- Please follow the installation instructions precisely.
- The beta versions of the changer (3.9x.x) are not intended for production
use. Install and use the software at your own risk.
- The beta version expires in 30 days after the initial installation.
An expired beta version has to be either uninstalled or upgraded
to a newer version of the software.
The current beta version of Firestreamer Media Changer does not contain
any GUI or help files, neither does it create shortcuts on your Desktop
or in the Start menu. The beta version comes only with the command
line utility that allows you to load media into the changer.
Installing the changer on Microsoft Windows
Server 2008
To install the beta version of Firestreamer Media Changer on Microsoft
Windows Server 2008, follow the steps below.
- Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
- Install recent Microsoft DPM updates, in particular:
- Download the appropriate version of the Firestreamer
Media Changer installer.
- IMPORTANT: If you have Firestreamer Media Changer 3.95.3 installed
on your computer, do NOT uninstall it before installing the new version.
If you uninstalled Firestreamer Media Changer 3.95.3, open the Registry
Editor and delete the registry value named FirestreamerBaseSerialNumber
under the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
This is to make sure that the new version will get a new serial number.
- Double-click the installer's .msi file and follow the wizard pages.
- When prompted (up to three times), confirm the installation of the
software from Cristalink Limited.
- After you installed Firestreamer Media Changer, open Microsoft DPM
Administrator Console, click Management > Libraries
> Rescan.
- If you had Firestreamer Media Changer 3.95.3 installed on your computer,
the new version will appear as a new tape library because of the
changed serial number. Re-configure your current protection groups
to use the new tape library.
- Make sure Firestreamer Media Changer is displayed in Microsoft DPM
as a tape library with five tape drives and 200 slots
.
Installing the changer on Microsoft Windows
Server 2003
To install the beta version of Firestreamer Media Changer on Microsoft
Windows Server 2003, follow the steps below.
- Install
KB943295 Storport update.
- Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
- Install recent Microsoft DPM updates, in particular:
- Download the appropriate version of the Firestreamer
Media Changer installer.
- IMPORTANT: If you have Firestreamer Media Changer 3.95.3 installed
on your computer, do NOT uninstall it before installing the new version.
If you uninstalled Firestreamer Media Changer 3.95.3, open the Registry
Editor and delete the registry value named FirestreamerBaseSerialNumber
under the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
This is to make sure that the new version will get a new serial number.
- Double-click the installer's .msi file and follow the wizard pages.
- For the three Firestreamer device drivers being installed, Windows
will display 10 (ten) Windows Logo prompts. Click Continue Anyway
for each one. IMPORTANT: Ignore the "Found New Hardware" wizard if
it shows up on the screen. It will automatically disappear once the
drivers are installed
.
- After you installed Firestreamer Media Changer, open Microsoft DPM
Administrator Console, click Management > Libraries
> Rescan.
- If you had Firestreamer Media Changer 3.95.3 installed on your computer,
